Shopping Center Sells for $40 Million

Round Hill Square Shopping Center in Zephyr Cove, Nevada has been purchased for $40.6 million. Property is scarce and development highly regulated in the Lake Tahoe Basin area. The purchased property is a 483 sq. foot mixed use property, with Safeway on one side and the Post Office on the next. There is a scarcity of retail as it is, so to start anything new, you will have to take something else down and build where it was. Cross Country Nordic Center

“Tucked away from the higher speed worries of the world, behind the quiet residential neighborhoods of Dollar Hill is the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area, with 65 kilometers of groomed trails for all abilities, snowshoe trails, two warming huts and views of Lake Tahoe.” Tourists and out-of-towners go for the slopes, so this cross country skiing haven is dominated by the locals. The Center offers classes in skiiing, as well as all the supplies and equipment needed for the beginner and expert alike.

Tahoe Cross Country also provides an after school program for kids called Stride-a-Gliders, which is an eight week program for pre-schoolers to fifth graders. In addition to the Stride-a-Gliders, the nordic center also hosts field trips from local schools such as Kings Beach Elementary and Tahoe Lake Elementary where classes come up to the area and learn how to ski as part of their regular curriculum.

Three Tahoe Goverment Agencies Under One Roof

Representatives from the city of Lake Tahoe, as well as El Dorado County and the Lake Tahoe Unified School District have decided to join together into one building. This new government center would be an estimated 42,000 square feet for office space, as well as a civic center that could be used as a meeting place for nonprofit organizations. The school district has offered the land for the new complex, and the city has agreed to compensate the school district by finding another place to house its school busses, possibly the airport.

Since the plan is still in its initial stages, there is not yet an estimated price. There will also need to be a feasability study and a possible community forum scheduled this April.
